Siding Soft Wash - Service
Share
The steps to soft wash siding are relatively the same for all different types of siding material
Step 1 - Pre-rinse the surface
Pre-rinsing the entire surface will get rid of loose debris, spider webs, large beehives, bird nets, and other obstructions that will prevent the soft wash solution from doing the best job. Additionally, this will cool down the surface temperature of the siding and reduce the chances of flash oxidation.
Step 2 - Apply Soft Wash Solution
Use your equipment to apply the soft washing solution and the target delusion levels to the siding. Apply the solution to the siding from the bottom of the siding to the top. Applying the soft wash solution from top to bottom will cause the chemical to drip, creating inconsistencies in its application. Applying from the bottom to the top will ensure a consistent application of the soft wash solution and allow the surfactant to hold the sodium hypochlorite in place for maximum cleaning.
With vinyl siding, spray in a different direction than the way in which the panels overlap. This will cause water to enter the panels and can create mold.
When applying soft wash solution to metal and vinyl siding, make sure the surface has been recently rinsed and is cooled. Metal and vinyl sidings have a high chance of oxidizing when a soft wash solution is applied to a hot surface.
Apply soft wash solution slowly and generously with more porous textures like brick, stone, veneer, or stucco. You will need to use more chemical and careful application to ensure the solution has thoroughly coated every nook and cranny.

Step 3 - Dwell Time
The active ingredient in the soft wash solution is sodium hypochlorite. This chemical will need a little time to be effective. It is recommended that you allow the chemical 15-30 minutes to dwell on the surface before rinsing.
DO NOT ALLOW THE SURFACE TO DRY WHILE DWELLING. If you are in a hot region, do only one wall at a time. Do not allow the soft wash solution to dry, as this can cause discoloration on the surface or oxidation. Lightly mist the surface during the dwell time.
Step 4 - Rinse
Once the soft wash solution has had 15-30 minutes of dwelling time, use fresh water to rinse the properties siding thoroughly. Always rinse from top to bottom to prevent re-rinsing the same areas.
If the soft wash solution did not remove all the organics, ensure that the persistent stain is organic. Next, reapply the solution, allow it to dwell, and rinse again. If the stain persists, increase the dilution strength of the soft wash solution and re-apply.
