Siding Soft Wash Overview

Siding Soft Wash Overview

Typically, a customer will contact a professional soft wash cleaner to “pressure wash their house.” Unfortunately, many people believe that they can still pressure wash their houses. High-pressure water can easily damage the siding of a property. On the vinyl siding, you risk cracking the panels, depositing water under the panels, or etching the coating.

Additionally, homeowners will turn to “off the shelf” products such as 30-Second Cleaner. Unfortunately, many homeowners don’t do a thorough enough job at the rinse stage, and the cleaner oxidizes on the siding. It will appear in the form of a white powdery substance.

Soft washing is only used to treat organic growth. It will not do anything for non-organic stains such as oxidation, overspray paint, smoke soot, etc. Soft washing will kill mold, moss, and algae that will typically show up black or green on the siding.

Typically, organics will begin growing on the north-facing side of the property. This is because the north side is the face of the home that gets the least amount of sunlight while getting similar moisture levels to the rest of the siding.
